BOTOX® Cosmetic Treatment
BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment is one of the most well-known injectable treatments available today in San Diego, CA. Over 10 million vials of this product have been sold in the United States alone since it was FDA approved in 2002.
This product is used to correct fine lines and wrinkles that are the result of repeated facial movements. Over the course of a single day, a person can make hundreds of different facial expressions that slowly cause the skin to become wrinkled. BOTOX® Cosmetic works by temporarily slowing the contraction of the muscles that cause these facial movements, allowing the skin above them time to soften and smooth.
Because these wrinkles are caused by facial movements, BOTOX® Cosmetic is used to address wrinkles near where these facial movements most often occur. These include the forehead, eyebrows, eyes, mouth, and chin.
Each botox injection at our San Diego office each session usually takes less than 20 minutes to complete and involves minimal downtime and side effects. Because the results of a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment typically only last for four months, periodic injection sessions are necessary to maintain any positive changes.
While BOTOX® Cosmetic is used to target wrinkles that are the result of muscle contractions, injectable fillers like Juvederm, Volbella and Voluma, are used to correct wrinkles and fine lines that caused by loss of facial volume. These can occur on nearly any area of the face but are most common near the cheeks, eyes, mouth, and nose.
Filler treatments can usually be completed in less than an hour, and bring patients only minimal downtime. Because the results of a filler treatment are only temporary, patients will have to undergo additional, periodic injection sessions to maintain any improvements to their wrinkles and fine lines.
